We had a lovely, relaxing stay. There’s beach access right opposite, which was great for the furbabies, and local pubs and some great places to eat are an easy walk away. 😊

The garden was a real highlight. Our small, very difficult border terrier couldn’t get out, and our golden retriever had room to play. The place was spotlessly clean, super dog friendly, and had lovely rooms with loads of space. There are great little shops and fabulous walks nearby.

Watchet is such a peaceful, lovely place, and dogs are welcome everywhere. Even the museums and galleries allow them, along with the cafes and shops. We made some lovely local friends while we were there, and I’d say you don’t need a dog to visit a Greengates, but if you have one, you definitely should. The Cottage is only a short stroll from pretty much everything. Pebbles tavern was top of our list for an evening out, and if you’ve seen Fisherman’s Friends, don’t miss the shanty night. The rooms are comfortable, with lovely beds and pillows, and the furniture and decor are high quality. There’s a thoughtful welcome pack, plus a dog friendly space and a fully secure garden where our little monsters could run around without us worrying they’d escape. We’d been home less than two hours when I booked another trip to Greengates, and I’ve got first refusal on a week later in the year for trip number three. We felt so relaxed here.

We’ve already booked another visit with friends for later this year, and I can’t imagine finding a better holiday rental in Watchet. We had a superb week at Greengates over May half term, a perfect family stay. The town is right on the doorstep, with its beach, harbour, pubs and shops. We especially liked Pebbles bar. During the week we took mountain bikes into the Quatocks, visited the zoo and Minehead beach, tried plenty of local beers and ciders, and rode the lovely steam railway. The property has been beautifully renovated but still feels cosy and full of character. The bedrooms are a good size with comfortable beds and good showers. The kitchen and dining room were roomy enough for meals with our extended family. It was great to have a garden and good quality internet too. Highly recommended!

The children spent hours looking for fossils and those “special stones” on our favourite walk, which went along the harbour, beside the railway and over to Fossil beach. There are plenty of walks around here. Watchet also has quirky little shops, and a visit to Pebbles Tavern is a must. Minehead seafront is only 10 miles along the coast, and the historic steam trains on the West Somerset Railway run from the station nearby. The cottage is beautifully done, spotlessly clean and spacious, with three toilets! The owners have thought of all the little details. There are games, DVDs and books, plus great cooking facilities, including sharp knives for cutting vegetables. We were pleased to find a welcome tray after our long journey and a chalkboard greeting us. It felt like home from home and was a fantastic place to relax and enjoy family time. It’s right in the heart of Watchet, literally a stone’s throw from the sea. The harbour and village are less than five minutes away on foot. We had an amazing stay, and I’d highly recommend it.
