We went for a sit-down meal, three of us, including a seven-year-old and two adults. The scampi was fine, though nothing special for the price, but both the haddock and cod were flat and tasteless, and the haddock was especially disappointing. The fish and chips felt too expensive for the portions. I expect chunky, bright white flakes of fish that taste of the sea, plus enough chips to last through the meal. There was no tomato ketchup either. If we’d known before ordering, we’d have gone somewhere else. This was our fourth visit, and there’s always something not quite right, so we won’t be back. Next time we’ll get takeaway from Frenches next door.

The food was delicious and plentiful, and the prices weren’t bad either. It was a very busy day, so we had to wait to be seated, but the two lovely staff serving did their best to get us in as soon as they could. They showed us to a room with plenty of seating and explained that they were short-staffed, otherwise that area would have been available too.

We ordered fish and chips, plus two sausages and chips. The chips were cold, so I complained. Staff brought fresh, hot chips, but enough for only one person. This used to be a good place to go, but it isn’t anymore. The staff are run by kids, and I won’t be hurrying back.

We went today and paid £26 each for fish, chips and mushy peas. The portions were really small and the food barely warm. When I pointed this out to the waiting staff, the response was just “oh,” as if they didn’t care. Please don’t support a place that doesn’t care what it serves people.

The portions were enormous, and everything was cooked beautifully and served quickly, even on a very busy Sunday lunchtime. We thought part of our order was missing and mentioned it, so they brought out the correct order. Then we spotted the item we’d thought was missing at the salt and vinegar station. We offered to pay for the mix-up, but they graciously refused. I also love the self-ordering system. Great service all round.
