The Downe Arms

I felt unsafe here. My room door faced the parking lot, with nothing separating the beds from drunk people coming out of the bar, and no safety guard or barrier. All the doors open directly onto the lot, so there was nowhere to get away from the men next door. They were drunk and threatened me late at night, suddenly banging heavily on my door. I was in room 4, they were in room 5. I called the hotel and no one answered. I called the police, but they did nothing. Nobody helped. The walls and doors are paper thin, too, so you constantly hear people and cars outside and it’s impossible to get a good rest. The worst hotel experience ever.

Massive portions at reasonable prices, and the simple pub food tastes amazing. This is exactly what a pub should be.

Top quality meat and veg at the best Sunday dinner carvery ever. If you haven’t been, you have to go. You won’t be disappointed.

We stayed a few weeks ago and were really impressed. The room was lovely and clean, the pub was lovely, and the landlady was very nice. The staff were brilliant and we couldn’t fault anything. We’re coming back this weekend, can’t wait, and will definitely be regulars. Thanks, see you all soon.
