The View on the Terrace

Breakfast was a real treat, cooked with passion and served with pride. We’ve been twice and hope to return in September. The welcome is warm, and the rooms have so much attention to detail, with homemade cookies and cakes as extra touches. They put in so much effort and take real pride in everything. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, they know all the best places and are happy to help.

We only booked one night, and wished we’d stayed longer. There was homemade cake in the room when we arrived, ginger, I think, and the details in the room were lovely. Breakfast was amazing, which was actually why I booked in the first place. Hopefully we can come back, as long as they’re not fully booked.

Breakfast was the highlight for us. Ali trained at Leiths School of Food and Wine, and it shows in the details: sweet tumbling toms instead of the large anaemic tomatoes I’ve had elsewhere, fried eggs basted so they cook evenly, homemade granola and fruit salad, plus a daily special. Bill handled more of the hosting, answered our questions and shared travel advice. It’s clear that running The View is a passion for both Ali and Bill, and they’ve made it special in a town with lots of B&Bs. The place itself is gorgeous to spend time in, with quirky themed rooms like the flamingo room and beetle room, their themes carried through in the wallpaper, cushions and other décor. The View on the Terrace is one of the most magical B&Bs I’ve stayed in. It’s just off the beach, a short walk from Weymouth’s restaurants and independent shops, and reasonably well connected to Dorset’s attractions. Thanks Ali and Bill x

Ali and Bill were such lovely hosts, with great recommendations around Weymouth, and I got fresh pastries each day. My room was cosy and I slept really well. Breakfast was amazing too. I had a lovely stay and would definitely go back.
