The owner was friendly and helpful, explained everything when we arrived, and left chocolates in our rooms. She also had menus for local restaurants, handy for visitors deciding where to eat. The rooms were spacious, with very comfortable beds, perfect pillows and thick curtains that kept the light out. I slept really well. Breakfast was cold and continental, with no cooked food, but she put out plenty: croissants, toast, ham, cheese, jams, cereals, coffee and tea, plus more. No fried eggs, though. The shower controls were confusing and not standard, and she hadn't explained that you need to pull a cord outside to get hot water. That's why I can't give five stars. The rooms had furniture, big TVs, soap and towels. Tea, coffee, chocolates and a kettle were provided and replenished daily. The ensuite had a shower but no toilet, so we shared one with everyone else on the floor. Not ideal, but manageable. There were several nice surprises that made the stay enjoyable. I'd go back and recommend it to friends.

The landlady was lovely and pleasant, and gave us tips for places to go at night. The room was basic, with a double bed, a single bed, shower and sink, but no toilet. That was shared with guests down the landing, something we hadn't realised when booking. Other rooms were advertised as having a shared bathroom, but this room listing mentioned a shower without saying the toilet was shared. Breakfast was included, but it was self-service. We got packets of cold ham and cheese slices from a Tupperware box in a small fridge in the dining room, plus bread to toast ourselves. For something hot, we could heat little pots of baked beans in the microwave and have them with toast. There were cereals, crisps, chocolate biscuits, bananas, cartons of fruit juice, water, tea and coffee, but no bacon or sausage in sight. For what was offered, it seemed a bit overpriced. The biscuits and chocolate in our room were a nice touch, along with the tea and coffee facilities.

The host was very friendly and stored my bicycle and trailer securely while I was there. As someone travelling by bike with a trailer, I appreciated that. The stay had all the comforts a bicycle traveller needs. Thanks.

It was okay, though dated, and the toilet was shared. My room had its own shower and was quite clean. Breakfast was a bit lacking for me, with no proper hot options.

A friendly, family-run place, clean and good value for money. The help-yourself cold breakfast was always well stocked. It's just up from the sea front and close to ships and transport.
