The room was clean, warm and spacious, with a separate bath and shower. The lift was out of order, so getting our things upstairs was a bit of a chore. The cooked breakfast was delicious, with toast and cereal too. You choose your breakfast ahead and give an approximate time, and the woman looking after us was lovely. All the food was perfect, and the restaurant was spotless. The hotel is an old place close to the seafront and good value, with very friendly, welcoming reception staff. We’d happily stay again. There were two sources of noise late at night: the nightclub opposite went on for ages, and some other guests were loud and inconsiderate. We try to be quiet ourselves, and it’s a shame not everyone does, though neither issue was the hotel’s fault.

The rooms are basic, but comfortable, and the staff are wonderful. It can get pretty cold, so thicker duvets might help in winter. The location is brilliant. I was worried before arriving, but was pleasantly surprised. If you want five star, pay five star! Thanks, windsor, can’t wait to come back.

The room was large enough for my wife’s mobility scooter, and the hotel and room were clean and tidy. We had a good short break, with a really enjoyable breakfast and friendly, happy staff who were ready to help. A few things could be better, though they didn’t spoil our stay. My wife had to wait outside by the back fire exit while I went through the building to open it for her. That wouldn’t be good in cold or wet weather, or if she were alone on the scooter. A ramp on the couple of steps down to the rooms could avoid that. We had a double sofa bed rather than a proper double, and it wasn’t one of our most comfortable nights. The garden outside our window was an eyesore and needed tidying, and the area at the front needed a lot of work. I knew the lift wasn’t working from other reviews, which is why I booked a downstairs room. The website photo was misleading, showing a Spanish city instead of the hotel. A photo of the hotel front would give customers a truer idea. I also believe the hotel is used as homeless accommodation, and customers should be told. It didn’t affect our stay and there were no problems, but it might worry someone else.

The room was big and clean, with cosy beds. For the price, it was just right for one night, and I’d use it again for a concert at the Playhouse or a day out. Reception staff were lovely. Breakfast was cooked to order, and there was plenty of it, even for a fussy eater like me. The dark haired woman serving it was all smiles, and the food and service were great.

Grim place, don’t stay. Everything from the lobby to the rooms felt old, worn, dirty and dated. I had to switch rooms because the first one had dirty linen. In the second, both bath towels had several hairs on them. The carpet was worn and coming loose, there were stains on the walls, floors and carpet, mould by the windows and in the bathroom, and water marks on the ceiling. A lamp post right outside made the useless curtains barely matter, and there was lots of street noise. The walls were paper thin too. I spent 10 minutes listening to the man next door being violently sick. Other reviews say it’s a halfway house or homeless shelter. Judging by the guests and the state of the place, they seem right. I was only there for one night and still checked out at 4am just to get away. You couldn’t pay me to stay again. Vile.
