The Everglades Park Hotel

Angie took care of arranging our rooms and the funeral tea, and Mike in the bar made sure everyone was looked after. The restaurant teams were superb at both breakfast and dinner. The food was a good standard, and the all inclusive package was great value. The only disappointment was that the room bathrooms felt a little dated and needed attention.

The room was a real shock after the promising exterior and reception. It felt stuck in the 90s, with a bed so hard that sitting down too heavily meant hitting the bed board, and I could feel every spring when I got back up. The pillows were lumpy, like they’d been washed countless times. There’s a decent sized bath, but the extractor fan sounds like a light aircraft, so a relaxing bath was out of the question. It’ll do for one night if needed, but I wouldn’t make a point of booking here again.

The Christmas pudding was a tiny slice and tasted like stale Christmas cake, with only a spoonful of custard. The mince pie was minute, the pasty undercooked, and the coffee too strong to drink. The turkey was pressed meat, the stuffing was raw, and the gravy was extremely salty. This was the worst Christmas lunch I’ve tasted.

We only stayed one night, and won’t be back. The room was badly outdated, like stepping into the 90s, and needs a proper refurbishment. The pillows were so flat I had to put bath towels underneath them to sleep. The bath tap spun unless I held it, and the toilet lid came off when we opened it. From outside and in reception, the place looked really good, but the room was a different story.
