Oakbank House

Paul was very courteous and humble, and suggested some good quick hikes for walking around. Our cosy, quiet room exceeded expectations, with a beautiful view and good facilities. Hotel parking was included. It was a bit tight, but there were enough spaces. Breakfast was included too. We had to go across to the Angel Inn, just in front of the hotel. It had a subtle, cosy atmosphere. Hot food can be ordered from the breakfast menu, and our English breakfast was delicious. Service was quick, the staff were humble, and they brought hot milk when we asked. I’d recommend it 100% for the location, service and value.

We arrived around 9:30am so we could make the most of the day, and asked if we could leave the car until check-in. A lovely woman said the room was ready and we could check in then. Our standard double, room 8, was spotless. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the staff serving it were polite and happy to help with anything. The hotel is well placed for the shops and lake. We had a lovely overnight stay and would highly recommend it. If we visit the area again, we’ll stay here.

We slept well in a decent bed, and the breakfast was excellent. Our bedroom window had a proper lake view, and the room was clean and looked like it had probably been refurbished during the Covid lockdown earlier that year. The people were lovely, and several restaurants are a short walk away, as is the lake. I’d highly recommend it for a break if you don’t want a big chain hotel.

We had a lovely weekend at this warm, inviting B&B. The hosts were great and helped with anything we needed. Our room was lovely, the view was great, and breakfast was generous with amazing quality. We’ll definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking to stay near the lake.
