The Elleray

We dropped in for lunch on the spur of the moment and got a really warm welcome from the staff and manager. The service was brilliant. My wife had a hallumi sandwich and I had the steak pie. The portions were generous, and the pie was amazing. We'll definitely go back.

We popped in twice while we were in Windermere this week. The beer garden was a real treat after walking, with little lights, covered benches and cushions you could use if you wanted. It’s clean and dog friendly too, with a big jar of treats on the bar. There’s a good range of beer and wine, and it was busy with people eating both times, though we didn’t try the food. They have rooms as well. We stayed elsewhere, but I’d guess they’re as good as other places in town.

We arrived a bit early and ordered drinks while waiting for dinner, then found out there was no chef and no food available. We went to Brown sugar instead and had fantastic fish and chips.

The staff were friendly and chatty, which I really liked. It’s a lovely pub too, with a great choice of beers on tap. I’d happily recommend it.
