Sir Christopher Wren Hotel

The river view at breakfast was lovely, and there was plenty of choice in the buffet. Everyone on staff was kind and very helpful. Our room was comfortable, though the view wasn’t much, which was due to the room we booked. The hotel is central to everything, and I’d definitely come back.

The staff were great, and the location is superb. My room was very nice, with quality fittings throughout, and the bathroom was exceptional, especially the shower. I’ve stayed at hotels all over the world, including The Four seasons and similar places, and this one isn’t quite at that level. The restaurant food was a little disappointing, though the view was very nice. The car park is a short walk away.

You’re right on the Thames riverbank, with the castle in sight, and it’s a very good location. The staff helped me at every turn and couldn’t have been more accommodating. My room was clean and comfortable, though it was away from the main hotel building and not quite what I expected. The buffet breakfast was okay, but the food was cold or only warm. I’d stay again if I found a good room rate.

The main drawback for me was the lack of a lift, which the website doesn’t mention. Our room was up quite a number of stairs, and that wasn’t great for me. I would have asked for a lower floor if I’d known, but the hotel was fully booked during our stay. We arrived around 12:30 and our room was already ready. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and someone was available to carry our bags. Our room was one of the biggest we’ve had in a long time, with a king-size bed, a small two-seater sofa, a side table and two armchairs. Tea and coffee were replenished every morning; for more during the day, reception could help. There was a large complimentary bottle of still water too, with another available to buy there. The hotel is in a fabulous spot on the Thames, with amazing views and a short walk to the town centre and castle. We only ate breakfast there, since Windsor has so many restaurants. The waiting staff tried to seat us with a river view, though it wasn’t guaranteed. The food was plentiful, varied, hot and tasty, with hot and cold options. Book direct and you get a free drink of your choice from the bar.
