There’s a good selection of board and card games, all well maintained, and a pleasant outdoor area on the green. The place itself is nice and drinks are fairly priced, so I could easily have given it five stars. But they charged me £5 for a basic ham sandwich with a handful of crisps. I wish I’d said something, but with lots of locals at the bar I felt I couldn’t without insulting the owner. Such a shame.

There are lovely walks around the village that the pub could make more of. It has off-road parking and a sunny seating area, and we got a warm welcome with a nice choice of traditional local ales.

A nice local pub with reasonable prices and food. There’s seating indoors and outside, a free car park, and clean toilets. I’ll visit again when I’m in the area.

The food was made from scratch to order and tasted amazing, though we had a long wait for lunch even though it wasn’t busy. One older woman behind the bar was a little dour and didn’t want us to take a menu outside to look at, but everyone else was really friendly. A table nearby sent back a meal, saying there was a bug in it. Since we were sitting outside, that seemed like a real possibility. Staff took it back without complaint and brought out a fresh one. When our meals arrived, they advised us to watch out for bugs landing. The toilets were clean and had plenty of little extras. We’d visit again.

The landlords Graham & Cheryl gave great service at this lovely local pub. There’s a nice beer garden out front for a pint in the Somerset sunshine. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re ever in Shipham!
