I had lunch at the restaurant today. The service was reasonable, but they didn't seem fully committed to making it a great experience. My Caesar salad looked good when it arrived, but the chicken was stone cold and dry. It was lettuce in dressing with clumps of limp bacon and chunks of Parmesan that hadn't been mixed in. The waitress eventually checked if everything was okay, by which point my partner had finished his meal. I wouldn't recommend the food or service.

The garden really comes into its own in warmer weather, adding a lively but relaxing extra space. The Woburn also brings together a pub, restaurant and hotel under one roof. I've visited the pub several times and enjoy its warm, inviting feel, decent food selection and board games, which make it a cosy place to meet friends or spend time with family. The restaurant feels more elegant and suits a special or more formal meal. The menu has plenty of variety, including choices for children. Service can be slow, and the desserts didn't quite live up to expectations, though those are small drawbacks in an otherwise pleasant experience.

The outside seating is pleasant, and the deer park is a short stroll away. The halloumi chips were nice too, but we won't be going back. Customer service was limited, even though the staff were friendly. We asked for sauce and nobody came back. The mains were bland, and the pork tomahawk was undercooked, with fat that looked like it hadn't touched the pan. We then waited over 30 minutes for dessert. The first waiter we asked about the wait never returned. When the toffee pudding finally came, it was so over microwaved it was hard and chewy. We sent it back, but the waiter didn't return then either. A lady eventually took our bill request, but she didn't come back; a waitress later deducted the dessert after we explained what happened. The toilets were filthy, with just one toilet roll for three cubicles. Very underwhelming.

We had a lovely dinner and the food was delicious, served quickly, with a great glass of wine too. Emmanuel struck just the right balance, attentive without intruding, and efficient despite clearly working very hard. All the staff were friendly and attentive. We can't fault them, and we'll definitely come back when we're in the area. Thank you!

The food was high quality and great, though a little expensive. The Sunday roast was especially good. Parking was chaos in both the pub and main car parks, so consider arriving a bit early, then going for a lovely walk before lunch or dinner.
