Severn View Hotel

The staff who checked me in were pleasant and friendly, but the bedroom was as loud as the bar below. The bed was hard, and the room felt grubby and worn. The bathroom smelled of rotten drains and badly needed refurbishing. I couldn't bring myself to use the shower. Avoid.

My partner and I stayed one night and had a great time. The room looked nice and the bed was comfortable. Jamie and the rest of the staff were lovely, and some of the visitors and regulars were friendly too. No complaints.

The man who checked us in was welcoming and got us sorted quickly. After that, it was all bad. The hallway smelled terrible, with tied black bags dumped along it. The room door's lock was nearly hanging off and it was tricky to open, though that wasn't the main issue. Inside, dust covered the bedside tables and skirting boards. The bathroom smelled odd, the bathtub was held together with duct tape, and tiles were missing from the walls. It looked awful and was filthy with dust and grime everywhere. This was the loudest hotel I've stayed in. The bar downstairs kept the noise going until around 1 a.m., and it was disgraceful. The pub itself seemed nice, but I wouldn't sleep here. I can't understand the good reviews; it didn't feel like the same place. Honestly, it may be the worst place I've stayed.

The rooms were very poor, with a leaking shower and uncomfortable beds. After I'd booked in the day before, the owner opened my door while I was showering, grilled me about whether I'd booked, and said the room wasn't ready. The bathroom bin still had sanitary products in it. Bar staff only seemed friendly if you spent all your money there.
