White Lion Hotel

We went on a Monday and there was plenty of parking. The food was okay, though for the price I thought I could get something similar and tastier from Tesco. It was still good value. The staff could try to look happier.

We picked this place for a convenient overnight stop so we wouldn’t have to drive after a party. The room was comfortable and had a fridge, microwave and television. There was a slight drain smell when we arrived, but it went away after flushing the toilet a couple of times. I only spoke to the host by intercom and phone, but they were polite throughout and very accommodating with our requests. If one of the larger budget hotel chains had been within walking distance of where we were visiting, we would have chosen it.

The room was pretty clean and nice, but there were a few problems. They said shampoo was provided, but there wasn’t any. Water flooded the bathroom because there’s a gap down the side of the shower. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear everyone’s conversations, though the ear plugs were a nice touch. The TV needs to come down about 20 cm, and the mattress is rock solid. Be prepared for an uncomfortable stay.

We came this evening for my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday and had an amazing time. The food was amazing, and the staff were impeccable, incredibly polite and welcoming. The atmosphere was lovely. We’ll absolutely visit again, highly recommended.
