Three Counties

I went to a networking event here and the staff made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was relaxed, and I was even able to stay on afterwards to work in the lobby. Breakfast had a huge choice, was hot and tasty, and they kept it coming. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and the facilities were clean and tidy. I haven’t seen the rooms, but after such a good visit I’d consider booking one if I needed to be in the area.

The night porter was lovely and greeted us politely, but the rooms were a real letdown on a business trip with colleagues. We arrived around 10:30 pm after a hot day, and the foyer was comfortable enough. It got hotter as we climbed the stairs. My window had been left open about an inch and wouldn’t open any further, with no air conditioning or fan in the room. The bathroom was clean, but in poor shape for the price: weak shower pressure, lumps in the cast iron bath and marks all over the floor. There was plenty of tea and coffee, but that didn’t make up for the state of the room.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable. It could use a little updating. The rear patio has no wheelchair access, which is a drawback, but I still had a positive stay.

Getting out of the hotel can be awkward depending on which way you need to go, since the road is very busy. The staff were very helpful, and the rooms had plenty of space and storage. There’s a nice bar and restaurant, though the menu is limited. I’d stick to bottled water, as I didn’t find the tap water very nice.
