Dinner in the restaurant was pretty good, and the service was friendly and accommodating. The cooked breakfast came out fresh and hot, though the buffet was limited, especially the coffee choices. Our room seemed to have been refurbished fairly recently, but it still fell short of what we’d expect from a B&B costing around £150 a night. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the wet room shower soaked the whole bathroom. With a little more thought and attention, the room could have been fine, but we left underwhelmed.

Breakfast was tasty, and the view down the valley was great. You can choose cooked breakfast for £12.50 or continental for £6.50. We had a ham and cheese panini with chips and salad for £9 in the nice bar area, and it was lovely. Our room overlooked the front car park, but on Sunday it stayed quiet until about 8 or 8:30.

We found the hotel handy for sightseeing, and I’d happily visit again. The staff were professional, friendly and ready to help. Both breakfast and dinner were enjoyable, and the bar had a very good selection. Our room was a little dated, though that’s understandable in an old building.

They were really busy but found room for us without any fuss. We had starters and mains, and both were lovely, especially the veg, which was done stir-fry style. As welcoming and enjoyable as ever, a wonderful visit again. X
