The hosts were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. It was a perfect place for my 70th birthday family celebration, with lovely, clean rooms that felt like home. Everyone especially enjoyed the pool table. The location was just right too, close to shops and places to eat, and only a four-minute walk along the castle wall into central York. I’d definitely recommend staying here, and hope we can return soon.

The bed was super comfortable, and all the amenities were there. We also loved the pool table. It’s a lovely house in a fantastic spot, no more than a 15-minute walk from all the sights.
We were four adults and a dog, and 109 Nunnery Lane was easy to reach on foot from the railway station. The city centre is walkable too. There are plenty of books and board games for all ages, plus a dining table that turns into a pool table. My son even had to take a shot with the fridge door open! Nearby Bishopthorpe Road has lots of shops and places to eat. We enjoyed breakfast at Robinson's and dinner at Thai Seasons restaurant. Both were busy, served good food and welcomed dogs. The house was comfortable, and I’d highly recommend it as a place to stay. Thanks to Alastair and Clare for taking such good care of us.
The host was flexible about arrival and departure times, which really helped with our two young children. The accommodation had plenty of room and everything we needed, in a good spot for sightseeing. It’s within walking distance of the train station, though we found Uber taxis very cheap and used them a lot. We had a lovely stay at nunnery lane.
We had an incredible time here. The houses were clean, quiet and comfortable, and their layout gave us enough privacy while keeping everyone close enough to enjoy being together. Everywhere in the city is walkable, with plenty of restaurants and things to do just around the corner. We were in the UK for a couple of weeks, and this was everyone’s favourite part of the trip. We’d definitely come back.
