Breakfast was a real highlight, with everything we needed before a day out exploring. York centre is an easy, steady ten-minute walk, and there are buses too if you'd rather ride. We had a lovely two-night stay with our spaniel Leo. June and her staff made us feel welcome, and the hotel has beautiful traditional furniture and decor. Our room, number 22 at the top of the house, was lovely and spacious, with a big bathroom and views across the park opposite towards York Minster in the distance. We'd highly recommend it.

The dogs were made to feel welcome throughout our relaxed stay, and they could join us in the breakfast lounge. The owner is lovely and clearly a real dog lover. There’s a park opposite for morning and bedtime walks, and The Nag’s Head just round the corner is a welcoming local pub with great staff and good food. We had a lovely long weekend with our two dogs. The rooms were warm and cosy, and the beds comfortable. Breakfast offered a good range of cold options as well as a very nice cooked meal. It took us 15-20 minutes to walk into town. Parking was a little tricky because there are only a few spaces, though free on-road parking is available outside the property. I'd definitely recommend the place for a quality break in York, especially if you're travelling with a dog.

A lovely BnB in a beautiful old building full of history. The bedroom was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Oksana looked after us at breakfast and was so kind to our dog. It was lovely to meet her. We'll definitely come back soon.

June, the proprietor, greeted us when we arrived and was very helpful with ideas for places to visit. She's a delightful lady, and the staff are lovely too. The rooms are lovely, and breakfast was absolutely amazing. It's about 15 minutes from York's main centre. No surprise they've won so many awards. A fantastic stay.

The dining room felt cramped, especially getting between the tables. There's an adjoining living-room area that seemed unused and could make the dining space more comfortable. Breakfast was limited: with at least 20 guests there, there was only one of each pastry and just three small pieces each of cheese and ham, and nothing was topped up during service. The rooms were clean but very small, with flimsy little beds. The small car park was full the whole time we were there. Overall, it's a clean place, but its size limits what it can offer, and it was expensive compared with many other hotels we've stayed in.
