Icona 20 - city centre apartment

Parking was the only good thing. The mattresses were filthy and had no protectors. Getting the main door open was ridiculous: after kneeling to reach the key safe boxes, which are far too low, I was told I hadn't entered the code and opened the door quickly enough, so it took two people. I won't come back.

The location and parking were both great, and the Icona was clean during our four-night stay. But the flat felt almost unfurnished, with so little in it that the large living room echoed. There was just a tiny round table with two chairs, a TV table and TV, and a two-seat sofa with a matching chair. No coffee table. The bedroom had a double bed rather than a queen, a small double wardrobe, two bedside tables and lamps. It felt like furnishing the flat had been an afterthought. The bathroom had no toilet paper roll or non-slip bathtub stickers, even though the shower was over the tub. I slipped. In the kitchen there was only one set of cutlery and crockery, three huge glasses, and four wine glasses. The Nespresso machine only takes pods ordered online, not shop-bought ones, which was a big mistake. There were no paper towels, just one tea towel, only two dishwasher tablets, and no rubbish bags. The sponge was so tiny it couldn't clean the counters properly. Unless these problems are sorted, we won't return and will advise our family and friends the same. Very disappointing.

A really nice apartment, great place, and an easy recommendation. ASDA superstore is across the road, and town is close by, just perfect. I haven't stayed somewhere like this in a long time. Five stars plus!

The ensuite shower was unusable for us because the water wouldn't settle at a moderate temperature, it was either cold or extremely hot. I spent half an hour trying to adjust it without success. Even so, we'd definitely stay again. The penthouse made a great base for a York getaway, with a spacious living area and kitchen, comfortable seating and a well-equipped kitchen. It was quiet, and the large wraparound balcony had a partial view of York Minster. The city centre is a ten-minute walk away, and a small Asda is two minutes away. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, we also had two parking spaces in the secure area under the block.
