The Minster bells were lovely to hear each day, and we couldn't have asked for a more central base for York. The apartment is spotless, distinctive and tastefully decorated, with everything working as it should. There are plenty of books and information about the city, plus discount offers and even a gift from Betty's, the great cafe just down the block for brunch or tea. The hosts communicated well and were terrific in every way. We’ll always stay here when we come back. Five-plus stars from us. Thanks for being such great hosts!

I really didn't want to leave. Claire was a wonderful host and made the stay feel special. The apartment was spotless and had all the facilities we needed. It’s right in the centre, but still quiet and peaceful, and hearing the York Minster bells was a joy. I can't recommend it enough.

The place was warm, secure, spacious and so clean, with all the modern conveniences. Communication from the hosts was second to none. We had a relaxing long weekend, and this is the best apartment we've stayed in for our annual kid-free York Christmas break, a tradition that's been our treat for 12 years. It's about as central as you can get. We'd highly recommend it and hope to come back.

The home was clean, lovely and comfortable, and I appreciated finding tea and coffee when I arrived. There were lots of books and guides about things to see and do, though I didn't have time to explore as a tourist. I was visiting my daughter at York St John uni, and the central location worked well for everything I had planned. I was on my own for the first three nights and felt very safe. I'll definitely look to stay again.

It's right in the middle of everything, but inside it's completely quiet. The photos don't capture how elegant the place is or how much care has gone into the details.
