Nukri Guest House

My family loved the place, and I'll come back. It was a quiet, laid-back spot where you could lounge in the hammock. The hosts were friendly, thoughtful, and accommodating, and both breakfast and the wine tasting were great.

Nukri and his son Georgi were incredible hosts. Nukri doesn't speak English, but he tries his best with Russian, sign language, and Google Translate. Georgi speaks great English and knows a lot about wine, chacha, and Gori's history, which made the tasting, really more of a chacha tasting, especially good. Breakfast was really nice by Georgian standards. The rooms were fine, even with a shared bathroom. It costs a bit more than other places, but I think it's worth it. We also went on a tour to Uplitsikhe with Nukri in his Lada. Looking back, I wish we'd bargained the price a little, since local taxi drivers charge less, though Nukri was incredibly nice and worked hard for his money. If you're arriving from the highway, you can call him first and he'll drive you to his house.

We got to try the homemade wine and ChaCha and take a tour with the owner. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the people were lovely. It's a great location near the train station, with nice rooms.

I have to say the double bed in the retro room was really uncomfortable. The pillow and bedding weren't comfortable either. I have a lot of affection for the owner, and my kids said they loved it, but the owner has recently renovated two other rooms I saw, and those are great.
