A5 Hotel

The rooms were cared for and the linens clean, and breakfast was very good for this price range. Our group of six stayed here two weeks ago before going on to Kutaisi. We liked it enough to come back for another stopover before heading to the airport. The location worked well for us too.

The staff felt cold and seemed untrained, though they weren't necessarily rude. Housekeeping also arrived late in the afternoon, which wasn't convenient. The room could use a screen door: Tbilisi is such a green city that we saw plenty of bugs and mosquitoes inside. Breakfast was another letdown. You can't serve yourself coffee, there's only cold milk to add, and the coffee tasted like plastic mixed with bakelite. The hotel is clean and centrally located, but the service doesn't really justify the price. You can probably find cheaper places in the Old Town.

The location was good, but that's about it. The bar wasn't working at all, and breakfast was very poor, with not even plain coffee. Cleanliness and the linens were the worst part. On arrival, they tried to put me in a dirty room where there was a used condom in the toilet. In the two other rooms they showed me, the sheets weren't fresh and had long hairs in different colors. It wasn't easy to find an available room at this hotel.

The rooms were clean and well kept, the food was quite good, and the location was perfect. The staff were the main problem. At reception, everyone looked grumpy, offered little help from check-in onward, and wasn't very friendly. They'd tell us one thing, then later call it a misunderstanding so they could charge more, and communication was difficult. They also gave another guest access to our room, and that person walked in while we were still inside. Their own staff came into the room too, blaming another so-called misunderstanding while we were napping. The stay was OK otherwise, but nobody has ever barged into our occupied rooms like that at places we've stayed before. It's something to keep in mind.
