Hotel Doesi

I can’t recommend Hotel Doesi to anyone looking for a safe place to stay. Reception sent an unwanted person to my room without telling me or getting my permission. It wasn’t a mix-up with the room number. The staff who should have been protecting guests directed this person to my door. As a solo traveler, I need to feel secure in my room, and this left me feeling extremely vulnerable. A hotel is responsible for its guests’ well-being, and letting an unauthorized person know where I was felt like a frightening breach of trust. It makes me question the basic safety measures at Hotel Doesi and suggests a serious lack of staff training or oversight, or both. This incident overshadowed everything else about my stay and has left me uneasy.

November 2023. The hotel is near the city, with clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. For this budget, it’s the best option available. Breakfast is simple, with bread, so bring your own travel kit. Markets and grocery stores are nearby and open 24/7.

The hotel is a long way from the city. Libra Supermarket is about a 10-minute walk away, but there isn’t much outdoor lighting around the hotel. There’s a small lift, and the baggage trolley seems to be there just for show. Breakfast is available and average, but don’t expect lunch or dinner. There are small courtyards at the back and front. Hot water is available, and the rooms are average. It’s not kid-friendly. Reception is open 24/7, but some staff don’t speak English and weren’t friendly or helpful.

We were there for four nights and found the place clean and peaceful, with an amazing breakfast. The guest service was excellent too. Since we don’t speak Russian or the local language, the staff helped us a lot, and they let us check in early and check out late because of our flight timing. There are lots of supermarkets and restaurants around, and we’d definitely come back. One downside if you’re planning to get around on your own: taxis can be hard to find from this location, so you may need to walk to the main road for transport.
