Hotel GNG

Over four nights, none of the basic services were done: the towels weren’t changed, the room wasn’t serviced or cleaned, and the bin wasn’t emptied. I had to keep reminding the staff about these things. This was a very unpleasant stay and far below what I’d expect from a so-called 4-star hotel.

It’s quiet and clean, in a suitable location, and getting to the city center by bus is easy. But the breakfast wasn’t very good, and it was served in a small windowless room. It starts at 8:30 am, and when we checked out early, they wouldn’t give us breakfast to take away. The staff seemed indifferent. Bottled water in the room costs extra, and rooms aren’t cleaned daily unless you ask.

My wife and I waited about four hours before we got a room with two single beds. On arrival, staff said the room wouldn’t be ready until 2:00 or 3:00 PM, and we had to wait in a ridiculously small lobby. Nobody helped carry our luggage upstairs, so we took it to the room ourselves. The hotel is a bit far from the city center, and most taxi drivers didn’t seem to know it or where it was exactly. Also, our tour leader told us water was free on the first day, but they charged us 2 larys for it at checkout.

The staff were friendly, but I don’t know how this place gets 4 stars. During my 4-day stay, I had to ask for every little thing. No sheet change, fresh towels, shampoo refill, or housekeeping, not even a vacuum.
