Gosha, our host, was very hospitable. He explained things, took us to the metro and a cafe, and pressed our travel cards. When we left, he drove us to the bus station and bargained with the minibus drivers. He eventually said their price was too high and took us to another station where the minibuses were cheaper. He did all of that for free. The hotel is clean and recently renovated, with air conditioning and a refrigerator. It's beside the Holy Trinity Cathedral, with the metro 900 meters away and the Old Town and Europe Square around 1.5 km away. You can walk or take a taxi for 3-4 lari, and the rooms are reasonably priced. The one drawback is the bathroom setup: the shower and toilet are together without a screen or curtain, so you end up washing over the toilet. They could have put in a partition or shower cubicle. I hope the owner fixes that, and then the place would be absolutely wonderful.
