The place was good, but be careful if a man comes asking for more money. He showed up on both the first and last day, claiming some of what we’d paid was frozen. When we said we had paperwork for the payment, he said he was going to get something from his car, then just left. Ask him to show his documents if he says you haven’t paid in full.

The hotel crew were helpful and responsive, and the views were great. The lighting wasn’t the best, and the mattresses were terrible.

I booked through Booking.com under the name City Center Lux Apartment. When we arrived, the entrance felt frightening, there was no reception, and a suspicious-looking man opened the apartment. It had no air conditioning and didn’t match the Booking.com listing. When I raised this, he offered to put a portable fan in the apartment, which we refused. He then stopped us from using the elevator, told us to pay for two nights and leave, and assaulted us. We got away down the stairs and reported it to the police and the embassy. The booking was canceled, and unfortunately we ended up in a hotel known for scary gangs.

Beware of them, may God punish them! A group of apartments listed on the site and nearby don’t match what you actually get. They cancel Google reservations without permission so they can keep the full amount. Service is terrible, and check-in gets delayed. It feels like a gang operation, with nowhere to go to complain or confront them. I stayed there last year and met many Gulf nationals dealing with the same problem.
