River View Hotel Tbilisi Hotel

I paid 783/-GEL for four nights, and the room was awful. It looked cheap inside and felt like it had no quality. Breakfast was always late, even though they said it started at 8am. The receptionist showed no hospitality and made me go back to the main door to close it, because I hadn't noticed it didn't close automatically behind me. The location and view were the only positives. WASTE OF MONEY. Don't trust the pictures, they were deliberately taken to make the place look better.

I called a week before arriving and told the representative we were three people, two adults and a child, and needed a bigger room with an extra bed. We got a small standard room, though the extra bed was there. Even after I raised the problems, the receptionist said the hotel was fully booked and couldn't change our room. The manager wasn't there and couldn't be reached. This is especially unacceptable since we'd reserved over 20+rooms at this hotel, as well as a conference room for a meeting. I arrived at 7 PM but couldn't get into the room until 7:40 PM because staff were changing the door lock batteries. I later found out they'd known about the battery problem before I arrived, even though check-in officially starts at 2 PM. Inside, the bathroom door had no handle at all, some lamps were missing, and the heater display was broken, so I couldn't check or adjust the temperature. I've never had service this poor at a hotel. Truly the worst service experience I've had. Never stay here.

The rooftop cafe wasn't open, which was a shame. Otherwise, everything was good, and the hotel is nicely located with most main attractions just a short walk away. The showers did leave water all over the washroom floor.

The bed was comfortable, the view was good despite the noise, and the location was spot on. I also got bottled water every day. I just hope the hotel improves over time. I’d never had to write a hotel review before this first stay in Tbilisi, Georgia. The receptionist was rude when I arrived late in the evening, not even saying hello or asking how I was. The first night, the room was over 25 degrees with the a/c on heat, and the bathroom door handle came off. I was too exhausted to go to reception and waited until morning to complain. The receptionist said the a/c wasn't broken, but had a thermostat problem. Nobody had mentioned that at check-in. The door handle was fixed later that day, after I complained three times. Then the hotel door card kept locking me out, so I had to go to reception every day to get it reactivated. The bathroom tap was broken, there were stains all over the carpet, and there was no hot water in the shower. Customer service was shocking, and they clearly didn't want to listen to complaints. The hotel needs a good revamp and some care, and maybe the staff could use a communications course.
