Hotel Timber Boutique Hotel

The fire on 18 December in the early morning left guests in a dangerous situation. People who were asleep weren't alerted, nobody gave evacuation instructions, and there was no staff available to explain what was happening or help. Guests were left anxious and confused on their own. The hotel then had no electricity, and the power was still out by evening. In freezing Tbilisi winter weather, guests had to use the stairs across several floors in complete darkness, with no lights, help, or backup plan. The hotel wouldn't proactively arrange alternative accommodation or even help guests find it. Only after many guests booked rooms elsewhere themselves did staff seem to understand how serious this was, far too late. This was during my stay at Timber Boutique Hotel, Tbilisi (15-18 December), which was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. From the start, the front desk staff were rude, arrogant, and dismissive. Several other guests during the same period complained about them too. I can't remember the names of the two receptionists, one younger and one a little older, but their attitude had no place in hospitality. The fire, lack of communication, and indifference showed a serious failure in safety procedures, crisis handling, and guest care. I strongly discourage people from staying here, especially families, solo travelers, or anyone expecting basic professional standards. The hotel should not be operating until it deals with its safety procedures, staff conduct, and accountability.

The location is handy, with several Indian cuisine options within walking distance. Staff were helpful, and the hotel is good for families. Rooms are somewhat compact but manageable, and breakfast is fine despite the limited selection.

Breakfast was great, especially with the view, and the location made it easy to explore nearby places. The hotel was clean throughout. My room was upgraded, and I was grateful for the comfortable room, the New Year's Eve fireworks view, and the snowy mountain scenery in the morning. I also experienced snow and rain firsthand 🥶 I stayed from dec. 31 - january 3, 2026, traveling alone to a new country to celebrate my 40th birthday. Booking this hotel turned out to be a wonderful decision. The front desk, reception, and kitchen staff treated me kindly and professionally. Manager Nana deserves special mention. She was so accommodating and went out of her way to make me comfortable and help make my Georgia experience unforgettable. Before I arrived, she promptly answered my questions and guided me, and she made sure the necessary arrangements were ready for my arrival. Thank you, Ms Nana, I really appreciate your efforts and will remember them fondly. Lika and Nana also helped me a lot during my stay. You're all amazing! The customer service was close to nonexistent. When we asked for another room, they said the hotel was fully booked, so we chose to leave. They were very dismissive about our complaints and didn't try to fix anything. The hotel doesn't match its description, and I'd avoid it if you want a decent night's sleep. Our room was dirty, the carpet was stained and badly vacuumed, the toilet flush didn't work properly, and the AC was locked. Worst of all, the walls were paper thin, so we could hear our neighbour's entire conversation.
