Vista Hotel

The hotel itself was good, but I had a strange problem at reception late on Saturday night. The woman there kept asking me to pay for the bottle of water in my room, though nobody had told me it cost extra. She insisted there was a price list, but I hadn't seen one or been informed about any charge. I was already late and my taxi was waiting, yet she wouldn't open the door without payment. She didn't speak English or Russian well, either. Guests shouldn't have to pay for water that's been placed in their room without warning.

Madonna at reception was so kind. We had a 6:30am flight, and when I asked about breakfast she said it wasn't possible, then went and made sandwiches and eggs herself. Didi Madloba, Madonna, if you're reading this, those sandwiches were delicious! The staff were all courteous and helpful, the rooms were good, breakfast was decent, and the location is the best. To me, this felt like a five-star hotel. Georgian people have gone beyond what I expected from the world. Please visit.

It has a pleasant guesthouse feel, though anyone used to full-service stays may find it modest. Breakfast is a small spread, water bottles are a little overpriced, and housekeeping comes once a day. The uphill walk back from nearby places can be inconvenient: Maps may show 12 to 25 minutes, but that return is all uphill, and the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill. Nothing was bad, just nothing especially remarkable either.

The view over Tbilisi is great, and the hotel felt welcoming and pleasant. Our room was clean and cosy, the staff were polite, and there's a bus stop right by the hotel. Recommended!
