Writers' House Residency

The rooms are up in the roof level of this historic house, which is also used for cultural events. There was no parking, despite it being advertised, and the airco was inop. They did offer us a free cancellation. Nice place, but those were disappointments.

One of Tbilisi's most charming spots, a magical place. There are also “hotel” rooms upstairs.

The building is beautiful, a real gem, but visiting the museum was an odd experience. It doesn't seem to be open in the usual way. The woman at the restaurant told me to ring the black door bell, but nobody answered when I did. Luckily, an employee came in and let me inside. She explained that it's also an office building, so visitors should avoid walking into people's offices.

The staff made my six weeks at Writers' House of Georgia feel like home, especially during a difficult time when I was dealing with serious health issues and wasn't the easiest guest. The kindness and patience everyone showed meant the world to me. Khatuna, the manager, helped with all sorts of things, including personal matters beyond my stay. She's incredibly kind and patient, and knows so much about Georgian culture. Ana, who works nights, is a sweetheart too, always positive and humble, and lovely to talk with. I learned a lot about Georgia from conversations with both of them. The building is gorgeous, with traditional Georgian furnishings and beautiful architecture. My room was quiet, which is rare in Tbilisi, and the bed and pillows were so comfortable that even as a light sleeper, I slept well every night. Liberty Square is only a few minutes away on foot. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
