It felt like being at Old McDonald Had a Farm, with dogs, cows, pigs, and piglets all around a huge garden. A very kind grandma made us a delicious breakfast and let us taste milk from her cow. When we had some damage, she asked her son to fix it, which was a big help. And then there's BARBARA, full of energy and kindness, and hoping to become a dance teacher. She taught us a Georgian dance at a special sunset spot she took us to. My friend stayed up chatting and playing with her late into the night, even though my friend usually goes to bed before I do. Imagine. They also helped us find a horse riding contact and a restaurant. They know the village and are happy to share its best spots! ☀️

I felt like part of the family thanks to Sonya and Barbara's kindness and hospitality. Barbara speaks perfect English, so communication was easy. She also guided me around the David Gareja monastery complex, including hidden spots in the caves that only locals know. Wine valley is a more authentic place to stay when visiting the monastery. It's in the rural village of Udabno, Georgian for ‘desert’, amid lovely views of the red mountains. I had a beautiful, cozy room, and the house had hot water, heating, a shower, and privacy. The hostess made delicious Georgian breakfast and dinner every day, with homemade cheese and pickles, fresh cow's milk and eggs, and bread baked in a traditional oven. The family arranged my horse ride through the Gareja desert and colorful mountains, one of Kakheti's landmark highlights. For a small fee, the owners also provided transport to the monastery. Ms. Sonia made us fresh Sulguni cheese with cow's milk, and we really enjoyed it. The house was beautiful, the surroundings lovely, and the treatment was sincere and good. I definitely recommend visiting Odabeno and staying here.

Kind hostess, pleasant rooms, and a good bathroom. There's a cute dog too, and the rates are less expensive. No wifi yet.
