Hotel Kulusuk

The staff were warm and patient with us, even when our little one was unwell and crying at odd hours. Traveling with a sick child is hard, but they did everything they could to help us feel comfortable. We were at Hotel Kulusuk, and the food was excellent at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, especially given how remote it is. They also arranged tours for us without any hassle, which made the trip much easier. It felt more like staying in a welcoming home than a hotel. Thanks for everything, Jakob and crew! Jacob and his team made the place feel so welcoming, and we had a wonderful week and a half here. The rooms were comfortable, the food was good, and the jigsaw puzzles came in handy when the weather was howling outside.

The rooms are basic, but they had a charming retro feel, like 1960s roadside motels in the States. I didn’t expect five-star lodging in a village of 300 on an island off Greenland’s coast. Dinner and breakfast were good for such a remote location. I don’t usually like salmon, but the salmon I had at dinner was very good. The airport shuttle ride was short, and we also got a tour of the village and its small museum. I slept wonderfully and had a great stay and experience.

8-3-22 The upstairs restaurant was absolutely fantastic. It’s nicely decorated, has plenty of seating, and a great view. I ate all three meals there, and they were all excellent. Breakfast and lunch are solid buffets with lots of options. Dinner is ordered separately, and I had lamb with asparagus and potatoes that was absolutely heavenly. There’s a bar too, if you feel like a drink. Room 122, on the other hand, had a horrendous smell, maybe sewage or mildew, I couldn’t tell. The shower wouldn’t drain, so water covered the whole bathroom. The room was tidy and the beds quite comfortable, but the smell was awful. Other people I asked didn’t have those odor or drainage problems. The walls and floors between rooms are thin, so you’ll hear plenty. The hotel is close to the “airport,” along a bumpy dirt road.
