Metohi Inn

We spent two days at Metohi Hotel in Palios Agios Athanasios, and it was a very disappointing stay. The first room they gave us wasn't the one we had booked or the one shown in the reservation photos. We chose a different room and eventually got another one, but when we raised the mismatch, they didn't make a real effort to resolve it and spoke to us rudely. There was also such a strong sewage smell in the room that we had to sleep with the window open to stand it. Breakfast had very few choices and the quality was low. We were there during the Easter fast, and one girl in our group was fasting, but there wasn't a single suitable option for her, not even fruit. The staff were rude overall and showed none of the basic hospitality you'd expect in a tourist place like Old Agios Athanasios. This spoiled our trip. We wouldn't recommend the hotel or choose it again.

If I could, I'd give this place no stars. At check-in, the woman seemed in a hurry to welcome us because we'd disturbed her by the fireplace. Be careful about the rooms: the information is misleading. They show you one room and put you in another. When we mentioned it, they didn't seem bothered and wouldn't even get up from their chairs. They just said, “This is what we discussed.” For the price, the room was awful compared with others. The bathroom smelled and was far too small. At payment time, she was sitting by the fireplace again. They admitted nothing, and we paid without getting a receipt. A terrible experience. They were not welcoming at all, and seemed to see you only as money. Look elsewhere, there are much better rooms. Don't choose by price alone, find somewhere you can stay more comfortably. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me.

Unacceptable. We booked rooms for eight people, four couples. Three rooms were at least average for the price, but the fourth, which cost 5 euros less, was depressing, narrow and tiny. That room had no water. They said it happens throughout the village, but the other three rooms had water. We raised our complaints while the staff sat in their chairs smoking casually. They seemed interested only in the money, which didn't match what they provided. Breakfast was average.

We visited this guesthouse recently and came away disappointed. The rooms didn't look like the photos, and the service was poor. When we went to pay, the staff stayed seated in their chairs, smoking. The payment felt impersonal, with no courtesy, no receipt and not even a simple thank you. It wasn't the experience we expected.
