Ballas Apartments

Agia Effimia is a peaceful, picturesque village on Cephalonia, and the apartment is there. Stavros, who owns the place and hosted us, was friendly, kind, and always available. The room was decent and had everything we needed. I'd suggest bringing or renting a car so you can explore more of this big island and its beautiful beaches. We had a great stay and couldn't have asked for more.

The photos don't really show how nice the place is. We were happily surprised when we arrived. Stavros takes great pride in making sure guests have the best experience, and he's an incredible host. The shared space is a huge shaded patio, with lovely plants and comfortable seating overlooking the charming port town. Restaurants and other things are a short walk away. We also loved the bed, which was super comfortable, unlike many we've had in Greece. We enjoyed the island and would definitely return to Ballas!

From the moment we arrived, Stavros made us feel at home. He handled every request kindly and with a smile. Our room at Ballas apartments was clean and had all the essentials. We'd book the same apartment without hesitation if we come back to Kefalonia.

Stavros was friendly and happy to point us toward nearby sights and tavernas, and the village center with most shops and tavernas is about a three minute walk. Every room has a fully equipped kitchenette and a small fridge, though it wasn't very effective at making ice. The rooms were spotless, with very comfortable beds, new bathrooms, and towels changed daily. There were some minor hot water problems in the evening. The sea facing rooms have a lovely view. We could watch boats in the small port with our morning coffee or see the taverna lights in the evening. There's a fabulous garden with two beautiful trees, chairs, and loungers, a nice place to sit with coffee or drinks. You can also get down to the water over some very large rocks to swim or fish, though it could be difficult for someone with limited mobility. Parking next to the property is very large and safe. Great value for the money.
