The staff were kind and helpful, and the room was clean and simple. Still, it didn't feel like an improvement on a hostel, and I don't understand the high rating. These are apartment units with doors opening straight to the outside, which I wish I'd known before booking. At night it was very noisy and felt more than a bit scary as a woman travelling alone. The light and key setup was annoying and difficult. Water overflowed from the shower and leaked into the room, and the bed wasn't very comfortable.

This budget hotel is in a perfect spot. We were a family of four, including a young child who slept in our bed, and the room for three was enough for us. It had the option to cook, but we didn't use it since there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The room was very clean, with daily housekeeping. The staff were helpful and arranged our airport transfer.

We spent two weeks in a two-room apartment. It was a very nice, clean hotel with everything we needed. The owners and staff were helpful, telling us about the area and how to reach Chania. Bus tickets are sold at reception for €1.10 each, with no added margin. The location is strategic, with four beaches nearby. If one beach is windy and wavy, the sea may be calm at another. The plot is filled with the hotel, which makes sense given how expensive land is here, but that's no problem: a municipal forest park lies between the hotel and the beaches. The tap water was good, and we could drink it without any stomach problems.

The room had air conditioning, which is a must in Crete during summer. Markets and restaurants are close, and you can borrow beach towels at reception for €2, as well as beach gear such as umbrellas and balls. There were some frustrating points. The fridge didn't work very well, and the showers had barely any pressure, making it hard to rinse off sand. The rooms were only cleaned occasionally; my towels were changed three times during my eight-day stay. Our room exit also faced a restaurant downstairs, leaving us in full view of its customers.
