Amvrakia Hotel

I stayed here twice, in two separate periods. It’s economical, and you get what you pay for. The beds and pillows were hard, and the basic air conditioning was noisy. My first room looked out over the sea, while the second faced the back street. Staff were friendly but kept a close eye on things. There aren’t many alternatives in this quiet town.

An easy place to reach, with a nice view and friendly staff. Good budget option when you just need to stop over.

The breakfast was the one good part of our stay. It was tasty and had plenty of variety, and our prepaid booking said it was included. At checkout, though, the receptionist insisted we pay. I showed him the reservation and tried to explain, but he rudely refused to check it and charged us anyway. A month of complaints from me and Expedia later, we still haven’t had the money back. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all. We only spent one night in Amfilochia this summer while heading to the Peloponnese. We picked the hotel because of its reviews and lovely setting, but the parking situation was a shock. They advertise “private parking,” yet it’s just a tiny uncovered space behind the hotel with room for six cars. We parked on the street out front, where there were plenty of spaces, then were told those public spaces were supposedly reserved for customers of the hotel restaurant and nearby restaurants. That’s a public area, not private property or parking. The rooms are dated and cramped, and the bathroom smelled of damp and pipes.

There’s a peaceful, family feel to the city, though it gets lively in the evenings. Hotel Amvrakia is clean and genuinely pleasant, right beside the bay. There’s a beach nearby and good restaurants across the road. István, Kata, Bálint
