Gorgona Hotel

Nice hotel. People complain about the rooms and breakfast, but the bedsheets were really clean, and while the rooms are small, they’re more than enough for 2 persons ON HOLIDAY. You sleep there, you don’t move there. The breakfast isn’t varied, but it has boiled eggs, omelet, sausages, beans, various pastry, cheese, cereals, milk and fresh vegetables, etc. I wonder what the people who complain eat at home. Overall grade is 9.5.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but for this amount of money I think you can find much better accommodation. The rooms looked far better in the pictures. Our bathroom was really small, and the door had to stay closed to use the sink. The sheets smelled, and the balcony had 2 plastic chairs but no table. Breakfast had few options, and the milk was expired. I only realized after taking a sip. There are no mosquito nets on the balcony door, so you either get a lot of bites overnight or freeze with the air conditioning on, since it’s too warm without it. When leaving, we were told there was a 3€ per day fee for environmental protection or something like that. It seems to be a legitimate tax, but it would have been nice to know about it earlier, not at checkout.

All the staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. The place is simple, but really clean and nice, with an upgraded modern bathroom. There’s a big swimming pool surrounded by a lovely garden area. We had a very nice stay close to the beach, with frequent local buses to the city centre. Breakfast was really good, with fresh eggs from the same day. Good value.

For the price, this really wasn’t justified. The bed was dirty, with hair and earwax remnants on the sheets, and there was dust everywhere. The room smelled like barbecue, the shower had rust and broken pipes, and the small bathtub wasn’t suitable for the size of normal people. Breakfast had very few products. Even the soap bottles were open, as if they’d been used before us. If it were possible to give a score of minus zero, this hotel would win it.
