The views across the Lybian sea are jaw dropping, and the house has a character of its own, built completely from stone with bold royal colours that fit naturally against the dark rock. Anatoli is a small, peaceful village without much to see, but this place is a real gem. For only a little more than a standard room, you get a whole house with a kitchen and a private veranda for breakfast. The nearest beach is Ierapetra, around 5 miles southeast, so it isn't right by the sea, though that also means you avoid much of the humidity in town. The owners are friendly and happy to chat if you feel like it. They'll do what they can to make the stay pleasant. If a quiet spot, beautiful views, and an amazing house are what you're after, this is a place to try.

The place was traditionally furnished, with air conditioning and very clean bathrooms and showers. We wanted to stay away from the tourist crowds, and this turned out to be the best spot on Crete. Our hosts were incredibly hospitable, polite, and accommodating. Maria and Manolis, thank you for a wonderful stay and a holiday we'll remember for a long time. We already want to come back.

Getting there through the mountains, with those sea views along the way, was magnificent. Anatoli itself made a lovely day trip, an old mountain village full of narrow lanes, ruins, and beautiful new houses. 👍👍👍
