Our room had a bedroom, a living area with a kitchen, and an extra bed on a mezzanine, so there was plenty of space. The bed was really comfortable, and having air conditioning throughout was very welcome. The villa sits high above Archanes, which means a steep walk down to town and a leg-stretching climb back, but the setting and the converted old farmhouse make it worth it. There’s also a lovely pool. A wonderful place to stay, a little off the beaten track.

We were left without a place to stay after an emergency with our other hotel, and Villa Archanes came through at the last minute. They replied late in the evening and found room for us. The rooms were spotless, the staff were friendly, and the outside was lovely. We’d absolutely recommend it.

We had a great breakfast beside the pool, and there are very good restaurants nearby. The rooms have lots of character, with a traditional villa feel. The owner was warm and helpful, and made the best raki we tried on the island. A wonderful place to stay.

What a breakfast for my first morning in Greece, such a spread! I can practically feel the pounds piling on, but I’m retired, so who cares? The village is lovely, and I give this hotel my stamp of approval. I highly recommend it.

Vassili and Christa made us feel so welcome, a delightful team. The courtyard pool was perfect for cooling off after a hot day at Knossos or the museums in Heraklion, and breakfast was good too. Our apartment was simple, immaculate, and good value. The kitchen was large enough to cook in, though there are lots of inexpensive restaurants in town. A peaceful little oasis on a hilly mountainside.
