Mouikis Hotel Kefalonia

I couldn’t get any work done remotely because the Wi-Fi, though connected, was either extremely slow or not working at all. On Kefalonia, it’s unacceptable for a hotel to have such a poor connection. I called the lobby a couple of times. They tried to help at first, but I think they eventually ignored my calls. The cleaning crew would leave the balcony door open after cleaning. I realized it was because the toilet in the room smelled. I had no choice but to leave the fan on when I went out, but the electricity only works if you put the card in the slot, so that didn’t help. I wasn’t comfortable leaving my laptop in a room with the balcony door open, and the lock box was too small for it. I was there off-season, so there’s really no excuse. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The staff made the whole trip feel easy and relaxing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. We stayed for two weeks and really loved it. The hotel was clean and comfortable, close to the seafront and shops, and our balcony had a beautiful sea view. There was plenty of choice at breakfast every day. We’d gladly return and recommend it.

Our friends got a much larger room with a huge balcony, while ours had a sea view but a balcony only about 25 centimetres deep. It had one stool and a fold-down table barely big enough for a single tea cup, so we couldn’t really sit out and enjoy the view. The rooms were clean and the breakfast buffet was okay. I booked two rooms for our party of four, staying one night in Argostoli before flying home the next day. It was quite expensive for the room size and tiny balcony, but it served as a place to crash for the night, and the airport was a convenient 15-minute drive away.

The terrace was a good size and got full sun during the day. The rooms were fine for a short stay, though probably a bit tight for longer since there wasn’t enough space to have two suitcases open. It’s near the seafront, with no major road noise. The hotel has been mostly refurbished, but doesn’t look quite as modern as some photos suggest. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. There’s a small rooftop bar with a spa pool and very little shade, plus a tiny but reasonably equipped gym that’s fine for one person at a time. We had an ant problem one day, which wasn’t good, but the maid cleaned everything quickly and thoroughly.
