Lovely place, and the Acropolis looks amazing at night.

The Acropolis and city views are amazing, with a full 360° vista. The penthouse itself is in pretty odd disrepair, though, and the place is very tired and needs plenty of TLC. There are cracks and missing filters around the balcony pool. The bedside drawers look vintage, cheap, and tacky, and they’re broken and too small to be useful. The shower head is manky, loses pressure, and takes ages to get hot. The bathroom mirror is cracked around the edges. One freezer drawer is missing, and the remaining one is broken and won’t stay properly in place. The pigeons around the little balcony pool were another problem. When we lifted the awnings, countless birds came to drink and wash, and they still showed up after we put the awnings down. After just two days, we asked for the water to be changed because it looked cloudy, maybe from bird poop. I didn’t want to risk using it. Maybe the filter wasn’t on. They seemed keen to conserve energy too, telling us to turn off the air conditioning when we went out and the hot water boiler after showers. That meant waiting 40 minutes after switching the boiler on before we could shower. The filter was turned on when we complained, then went off again after they cleaned it the next day. The booking and transfers were a mess. They didn’t want to pay commission on our third-party booking, so asked us to cancel it and let them put it through as an invalid card. In return, they promised free transfers to and from the airport. They reassured us, including in an email, so we agreed. They honored it on arrival, but left us without a transfer when we departed. Paul said it wasn’t his department, and Sofia, the contact we’d dealt with the whole time, left our messages unread. It felt highly unprofessional. They’d got what they wanted, then washed their hands of us, leaving us to find other arrangements at the last minute. The photos include proof of them persuading us to cancel the booking and of them not picking us up. We stayed six nights. At £400 per night in June, and almost £600 in peak season, I don’t think it’s worth the price. The view is great, but the home should match the cost. Keep your money. These scammers don’t deserve it.

The terrace plants had all dried out, and during our visit there were several problems with the blinds, shower, and air conditioning. Still, I’d book this very nice penthouse again. It’s in a fantastic location, with amazing views across Athens and of the Acropolis.
