After a month of trying to sort this out and get our money back, the property refused a refund and stopped responding. Booking.com also took no responsibility when I complained about accommodations advertised in these conditions. The photos below don’t show the real state of the property, and the advertising is misleading. We booked through Booking.com, but when we arrived there was no reception staff, and nobody answered by phone or any other way. We spent 30 minutes trying to reach someone. Then people who appeared to be drug addicts came down the stairs and wandered around while my family and I waited in the lobby. With no response through any channel, we felt unsafe and left. The customer service and condition of the property were completely unacceptable.

We picked the hotel for its closeness to central Athens, while still being in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood. The room was spacious, with a kitchenette, seating area, and balcony. Everything was impeccably clean, from reception to the room. We’d gladly stay at Art Suites again and highly recommend it.

We stayed for 18 days and were very grateful for the stay. The hotel had everything we needed, with a fabulous location near the metro and two restaurants right outside. Housekeeping was outstanding. Evelyn made us comfortable, and Miranda and the reception team were very obliging.

The location was a bright spot, close to the center in a lovely area near kolonaki and lycabettus hill. The rooms are spacious and the balcony was nice, but the hotel’s upkeep needs work. Our room wasn’t very clean, and the towel we got was stained. Nobody changed it during our five-day stay because no one came to clean the room. Water kept flooding the bathroom, so we had to block the drain with a towel. We also ran out of toilet paper and bin space, and ended up tying rubbish in shopping bags. We saw just one staff member the whole time, which felt eerie, and there was no one to speak to about the problems. The stay was still good overall because of the location, but this hotel isn’t maintained to the standard it claims. If you’ve already booked, I think your stay can still be lovely, since it’s not a terrible hotel, just poorly looked after.

The price is hard to beat for such a central location, especially for families with kids, and it’s easy to get there by subway. The rooms have kitchenettes and, surprisingly, a jacuzzi, which is a real bonus in Athens when summer temperatures reach 40C. It doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel, though. The building looks straight out of the 70s, the room furniture is dated, and the big balconies look onto TV antennas on the buildings opposite. The rooms also have mismatched furniture and very little decoration. Reception is closed from 11 to 8. Still, it’s a good deal.
