The Athens Version Luxury Suites

Julius made check-in easy and welcomed us with great local tips. He was warm, friendly, and helpful throughout. We stayed in a family room that was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The place is right in central Athens, close to restaurants, shops, and major attractions. We’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting.

The shower door fell on my head on the day we checked in, with my children there. The bathroom was full of broken glass and unusable, but when we immediately asked to move rooms, they refused. They also denied our refund and told us to leave at 8 p.m. while my kids were asleep. They accused us of breaking the door, even though it was already damaged when we arrived. The owners were extremely rude and dishonest. If zero stars were an option, I’d give that. Avoid this place.

Julius and Olga looked after us well. When our TV stopped working, they kindly offered us a bottle of wine. The room was spacious, and the terrace was amazing. The bed was a bit firm but still comfortable, and you can hear some street noise, about what you’d expect in a city apartment. It’s a great base for exploring on foot, with many major attractions within walking distance.

The noise was brutal, with a nightclub about twenty-five feet away playing bass until 2 AM. There was nobody at reception when we were there, and the only staff member we saw was a cleaning lady as we checked out. Another guest had to open the front door and give us code 2712; then we had to text a random number posted in the lobby to get into our room. Our door was mysteriously unlocked twice while we were out, so security felt nonexistent. The AC only blew weak, warm air, the curtains had holes, and hot water meant flipping a sketchy breaker and waiting twenty minutes for roughly an hour of supply. The tiny bathroom had a cramped shower that sprayed water across the floor, and the room itself was so small our luggage used up most of the floor space. The bed felt like plywood. Nothing about it felt luxurious, despite booking a “superior room” at a “luxury hotel” through their site. The place felt like a total rip-off. In response to the owners’ comments, there was no one at the desk to complain to. A complaint wouldn’t fix the AC, stop the music, or make the mattress comfortable. Our booking never mentioned an “economy” room, and that would’ve been an upgrade anyway. We had no problems at any of the other hotels on our vacation. We didn’t get what we paid for. I hate to say it, but you’re down to a 4.6, and even that’s too high.
