Cosmopolit Hotel

The room was comfortable, with a soft warm bed, clean new flooring, a convenient shower, plenty of towels, good lighting, a hair dryer, lots of hangers, and medium-sized storage. They had shampoo, though not much choice of soap. Staff were professional, friendly, attentive, helpful, and the place was CLEAN. It’s well located among groceries, food, and drinks, and the price works for short trips or longer stays. Sightseeing can mean a long walk, depending on where you want to go, while other places may take a drive. There was sometimes noise at night from homeless people and drug users in town, but most of the time it was pretty quiet. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The worst discovery was a bed bug crawling quickly across the sheets while I was sitting on the bed. After that, I couldn’t sleep and felt uncomfortable and unsafe. Seeing one makes me think there may be others. Earlier, my mother had noticed a dangerously loose electrical socket right above the pillow area, and we also found a large stain on the sheets. After a quick shower, she found no shampoo, then walked barefoot and had several hairs stick to her feet, so the floor clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The toilet lid was broken and kept falling while she sat down. Cleanliness and safety are basic expectations, and Hotel Cosmopolit didn’t meet even those minimum standards. It was a very unpleasant stay.

The receptionists were nice, but I found the hotel very old and dirty, and the cleaning staff were insane. They started banging on doors before 7am. I went downstairs for coffee after waking up, and five women employees stared at me as if I were crazy. I’d paid for breakfast, but they didn’t offer me any. I didn’t want to eat there anyway, but I asked for coffee. The woman at the bar rudely shouted, “NO NO NO COFFEE GO AWAY.” I was shocked, very upset, and left for another place ten minutes later. Avoid at all costs!

The room was clean and comfortable, and I really liked how close the hotel was to Athens’ most attractive places. I stayed here for a few days with my wife and would come back.
