Hellenic Hospitality House

The apartment was well equipped, recently renovated, and very clean, which made for a great stay in a central spot. My main complaint is the noise around the flats by the elevator. People drag their bags around loudly and don't seem to consider the neighbors, and the apartment's inner door doesn't block much sound either. Better sound insulation would help.

The apartment was clean, and the bed was fine, though I would've liked a firmer mattress. The sofa had a few stains, which is a shame, and a fabric sofa may not be the best choice for a rental. Maintenance could be better too, especially in the shower, where the hooks and screws need tightening. Getting around is easy from this very central location, with shops and restaurants all over and most things about a two-minute walk away. There isn't nearby parking, so don't bring a car. Also, there are a lot of stairs before you reach the elevator, about as high as the second floor, which could be tough with heavy luggage. One thing to watch when booking through booking.com: the property is listed under a different name, My Athens House.

The terrace view of the acropolis, especially in the morning and at night, was a real highlight. The place is good value, and I'd gladly stay again. It's a boutique property within a short walk of the main sights and Athens nightlife. The owner was helpful, spoke excellent English, and the staff were ready to assist with anything we needed. There's a flight of stairs to climb before reaching the elevator, so keep that in mind if mobility is an issue. I'd rate the room a four: in my room, at least, the sliding partition didn't fully divide the two sleeping areas.

Our flight got us into Athens at 23:10, and the owner had arranged a driver to meet us at the airport. Since it was late and outside the usual check-in time, the driver showed us the room and handed over the key. The website says check-in is only until 19:00, so I really appreciated the flexibility. Chris was responsive and accommodating throughout. The room was spotless and had everything we needed, and the location made it easy to walk to all the attractions.
