Melia Athens Hotel

Housekeeping was the biggest letdown. Over our four-night stay, the room was cleaned just once, and that only meant making the bed. Used cups were left there, and on other days we’d been out for 5-6 hours after breakfast but still came back to an uncleaned room. Housekeeping only came when our child was already asleep. That’s well below what I expected for the price. Breakfast was another weak spot, with a small, crowded area, slow table clearing, and a limited selection that didn’t match the hotel’s level. Still, our family enjoyed the stay. The suite was spacious and comfortable, and two women at reception were so kind and friendly with our young daughter that she started calling them her friends. The location was good, everything was walkable, and we felt safe there at night with a child, despite other comments. The gym is very small, but has new Technogym equipment, enough for a good cardio session with a great Acropolis view, plus a few dumbbells. The room itself was quite dated, and some things didn’t work properly. The shower pressure was weak, the bathtub only worked with the shower head, and the TV was practically useless because there was no working internet or apps, so no YouTube or Netflix. Don’t expect luxury.

The rooftop is a highlight, with panoramic Athens views that include the Acropolis. Meliá Athens also has a gym and spa services, and the staff are generally professional and consistent, making for a smooth stay. Its central position gives easy access to landmarks, business areas, and public transport, so it works for leisure or business trips. The contemporary rooms focus on practicality, cleanliness, and a place to relax after a busy day. A solid four-star choice if comfort and a convenient Athens location are what you need.

We had a lovely stay, and it was easy to walk around from the hotel, with shops and plenty of restaurants nearby. Inside, the place feels exclusive, and the rooms are big and clean, with comfortable beds. The buffet breakfast was delicious and fresh, and the staff there were wonderful, always smiling and doing a fantastic job. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Thank you :)

I soon noticed we were the youngest guests there. Quite a few people seemed to be stopping over between cruises, and that suited me just fine. My girls were happy doing their own thing and ignoring everyone, so they didn’t notice until later. The older guests were endearing, and there was no argy-bargy for the sausages. Some staff were much friendlier than the person on reception when we arrived. Olga was lovely. That first staff member seemed bored and unhappy, with no smiles, but after a perfunctory greeting, check-in was quick and efficient. They pointed out the areas and underlined breakfast times. The entrance itself is unassuming.
