Petaluda House 2 Izabela

The room was roomy enough, the bed worked for me, and I loved having a private balcony over the rooftops and streets. Petaluda is cosy, charming and clean, and the shared kitchen and bathroom stayed spotless. I hardly saw anyone else, so it still felt private. For the price, it was just right. Izabella and Manolis were lovely hosts and sent clear arrival directions. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Victoria station. I didn’t find the neighbourhood dangerous. Athens has a gritty charm that I enjoy, and the locals I met were friendly. Maybe graffiti and diverse communities worry some people. If so, they can pay €150 a night in Monistraki. Manolis and Izabella kindly let me check out an hour late, which I really appreciated. I’d stay again. Thanks, see you next time.

The place is clean and quiet, with a kitchen and two shared bathrooms for the five guest rooms. Street-facing rooms can get some traffic noise now and then. It’s a good option for travellers on a small budget, and the hosts are kind and friendly. They don’t live on site, but if you call when you arrive, they’re happy to come open the front door for check-in and will try to accommodate requests when they can.

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The owner was so lovely and made us feel welcome. Bathrooms are shared, but there are two for four rooms, so you’re sharing with only a few people. They were nice and clean too.

The whole place was spotless, and our room was spacious with a lovely quiet balcony. Breakfast was pretty good, and there’s a shared kitchen where I could store food in the fridge. Great value for the money, I loved it!
