Lagon Life Spirit Boutique Hotel - Adults Only

The place has potential and the building is nice, but there were a couple of big letdowns for a five star hotel. We stayed two nights in April, not even in August, and couldn't book any spa treatments. They have to be reserved more than a day ahead and are only offered in the afternoon. That's how the policy works, so if you're staying fewer than three nights, you may miss out on the wellbeing treatments altogether. For the room with a sea view, the room and terrace were nice. Breakfast and dinner could both be served in the room, and the shrimp pasta was very good. The breakfast itself, though, wasn't great and didn't seem fresh, as if it had been prepared the day before. A pity.

Maria gave me an aromatherapy massage with scalp and foot massage, and it was one of the most relaxing, indulgent treatments I've had. She made the room feel calm and comfortable and listened carefully to what my body needed. Her technique was intuitive and clearly very skilled. I left feeling cared for, relaxed, and completely restored. One of my best massage experiences. Highly recommend!

It looked bright and elegant, and there were thoughtful touches at arrival, including a drink at reception, a full introduction to the room, and a bottle of bubbles. We had a second-row room above reception, so I suspect the front-row rooms offer a better stay. The room setup still felt untested in practical ways. On a cooler day, we weren't sure where to eat the breakfast spread, though perhaps people would use the balcony in hot weather. The WC arrangement also felt like something from an army or scouts camp. Is sacrificing soundproofing really necessary for everyday private business? I'd suggest it for an experience or a short stay. Over longer stays, the distances to points of interest and the questionable breakfast-room setup get tiring quickly.

The main problem came after we tried to resolve things privately. During and after our stay, we calmly and respectfully raised our concerns with management and asked for a partial refund. We were shocked to find an email threatening criminal and legal action, which felt coercive and intimidating, apparently to stop us from posting a negative review. We'd said that if the hotel couldn't offer some compensation, we would likely have to write an honest account of our concerns. Management dismissed our good-faith attempt to sort it out directly. That turned a stay that had been relatively positive into an uncomfortable and scary experience. We booked the 'Double Room with Garden View and Private Pool'. The photos showed the layout but didn't make clear that the room was right beside reception, just steps from the hotel entrance. Opaque glass and gates surrounded the outdoor area and pool, but people walking past could still see into what was described as a private space. We didn't feel comfortable using the pool. We could also hear lobby voices and activity inside the room, which affected our comfort and privacy. Some of the food and drink disappointed us, too. The “English breakfast” and some ingredients fell short of what we'd expect at a five-star boutique hotel, including orange plastic triangles of cheese. Some things weren't available at times, such as ketchup, and there was limited choice of alcoholic drinks, including beer. Awful. I've never written a negative review before, but this was an exceptionally bad final experience.
