Moka Apartments

We had a nice bedroom, air conditioning, and a kitchen area that was fine, and the owner was very nice. When the fridge stopped working, it was replaced within two hours, but the smaller replacement was extremely dirty and my wife had to wash it out. The apartment itself is roughly 25 minutes from Chania old town. We’re in our 60s and fit, so the distance wasn’t the issue for us. The walk was: the roads and pavements are in terrible shape, with holes and broken slabs, and there’s poor lighting. One night we could hardly see once we’d left the main drag. We were told by a nearby resident who drives taxis that Anopolis 17 is one of the poorer areas of Chania, and it looks that way. Residents have allotments across from the apartments, with geese, chickens, and other wildlife. The outside space is substantial, but the many cats made most of it unusable for us. They took over the back sunbeds and chairs, leaving urine smells and cat hair, and kept returning every day and night when I tried to chase them away. The sunbeds on the AstroTurf at the side were in the same condition. There’s also a shaded side area with chairs and a nice table, and that was the only spot we could use because the metal furniture didn’t seem to appeal to the cats. The small pebbled section at the front of the AstroTurf was used as their toilet area. The cats were all around the outside; pepper spray didn’t keep them away. In the evenings, we ended up taking taxis to the old town because walking felt unsafe in the dark, at 10 euros each way. The location, the cats all over the outdoor areas, the smell, and the poor roads, sidewalks, and lighting really let the place down. We could have contacted the agency or owner, but I don’t think they could have moved us elsewhere, and there wasn’t much they could do about cats that had been using the area for ages. It was our first time in Chania, and unfortunately it didn’t leave us with a good impression. I’ll upload photos of the apartment and the surrounding area.

We felt at home here and would love to come back. The apartment has everything you need for comfort, is fully equipped, and has a beautiful garden. It’s near Chania old town, with a parking spot right in front. Thanks for everything you did to make tourists feel welcome.

We stayed in a comfortable apartment in a quiet area, with parking and a washing machine. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the center and the old town.

Just as lovely as it looks in the photos, and very beautiful. The place is modern, clean, and quiet. Highly recommend!
