Monk Rooms

The host made check-in and communication easy, and was so kind and accommodating. The Monk Room felt like home, with a spotless, comfortable room that had loads of charm and a nice mix of Cretan character and modern comfort. It’s tucked into Chania’s lovely pedestrian area, with great restaurants, charming cafés, and lively bars just steps away, yet nights were surprisingly quiet. You can head out to the harbor or wander the Old Town alleys, or relax with a glass of wine on the balcony. I’d gladly stay here again.

We loved the rooftop terrace and the little nook for relaxing or entertainment. The room was clean and comfortable, and everything in Chania was within walking distance from this great location. Kiki was incredibly welcoming and always made sure we had what we needed. The recommendation booklet was helpful too. Thanks, we’ll visit again soon!

The price feels wildly unreasonable for such basic accommodation, especially when you barely sleep. The location is nice, but there’s no soundproofing and loud music goes on until 3 a.m. every night. The shower is extremely cramped, and towels or sheets are changed only once every few days. Stairs are very steep, so you’ll have to carry your luggage. The mattresses are poor, there’s dust everywhere, and handles fall off the old wooden wardrobes when you try to open them. I also doubt the reviews here are genuine, and the first one appears to be from the owner.

We had a great stay, thanks! The room is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, with a really nice rooftop. It’s close to everything but sits on a quiet street in Chania. The Monk's team was quick to respond to messages and very helpful.
